- October 14, 1931 – JSA to Belle Moskowitz –
My dear Mrs. Moskowitz:
No words can express the thrill I received a few moments ago over the telephone (when my doctor has me flat on my back), your telegram that Ex-Governor Smith would oppose the Tree Cutting Amendment No. 3.
It has been a long up hill effort to keep the fire on the right side burning but now I am sure we have a fine chance of winning a good fight for real conservation. With you and the Governor back of us we certainly ought to win.
Please accept my most sincere appreciation for your personal interest.
Sincerely yours,
JSApperson
