March 12, 1929 – Commissioner MacDonald to JSA

  • March 12, 1929 – Commissioner MacDonald/ W. G. Howard to JSA –

Dear Apperson:

Commissioner MacDonald has asked me to reply to your letter of March 11 with regard to the work being done by this Department in cleaning up dead and down timber on the State islands at Lake George.

The purpose of this work is to clear up some of the unsightly brush and dead trees to make the camp sites more attractive. Instructions have been given the crews to pile all usable wood in these trees for the use of campers.

We appreciate your interest in this matter, and you may rest assured we are planning to do this work carefully and in a way to improve the islands rather than injure them.

Very truly yours,

ALEXANDER MACDONALD, Commissioner
