CONCURRENT RESOLUTION OF THE SENATE AND ASSEMBLY

Proposing an amendment to article seven of the constitution to provide for the acquisition and reforestation of land, the management of forests thereon, and the establishment of forest tree nurseries therefor

 

1 Section 1. Resolved (if the Assembly concur), that article seven

2 of the constitution be amended by adding at the end thereof a

3 new section, to be section sixteen, to read as follows:

4 16. The legislature in each of the eleven calendar years immediately following the adoption of this amendment shall appropriate

6 out of any funds in the treasury not otherwise appropriated

7 moneys for the acquisition by the state of land suited for

8 reforestation, for the reforesting of the same and the protection

9 and management of forests thereon; for the acquisition of land for

10 forest tree nurseries, and for the establishment and maintenance

11 of such nurseries, such appropriations to begin in the first year

Explanation – Matter in italics is new, matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted.

1 with the sum of one million dollars (1,000,000) and increasing

2 annually by the sum of two hundred thousand dollars ($200,000)

3 to and including the sixth year and in each of the five years imme-

4 diately following, a sum equal to that appropriated for the sixth

5 year. All such appropriations to be available until expended. A

6 law enacted pursuant to this section shall take effect without sub-

7 mission to the people.

8 & 2. Resolved (if the Assembly concur), that the foregoing

9 amendment be submitted to the people for approval at the general

10 election to be held in the year nineteen hundred thirty-three, in accordance with the provisions of the election law.
