“Clubs Plan Drive to Keep Woodland:
More than 60 delegates representing conservation clubs in the Rochester District met in the Genesee Conservation League clubhouse, Buffalo Road, last night to discuss proposed legislation affecting the New York Conservation Department. The meeting was called by Arthur A. Davis, Rochester member of the New York State Conservation Department. Unanimous approval of almost all proposals was given by the group. They voted against construction of ski trails and truck trails through forest preserve, and against further drying up of swamplands. Such drainage, it was said, lowers the water levels of wells and other natural water respires in the vicinity. Davis will report the proposals at a meeting of the advisory committee in Albany Monday in preparation for opening of the legislature where conservation bills will be introduced.”
