1904 – May 8 – A. Russell Stevenson to JSA

My dear Mr. Apperson:
Could a boy have taken a more unfortunate time to break out with the measles than the day before the circus? Yet that is the sad case with Stuart!

I drop you this line for fear you have never had measles and will be afraid to come to the house for lunch Monday.

Dr. Preston says there is no reason Alex should not go to school and to the circus as he cannot carry the disease on his clothes.

If you have had measles we will be glad to have you for lunch, but we do not want you to run any risk.

If you have not had them, Alex will be ready to join you at the front door for the trip to the circus.

Alex had measles several years ago.

Faithfully yours,
A. Russell Stevenson
