Dear Sir:
My son Howard Hitchcock has often of the kindly interest you have taken in his welfare, and we would be very happy to meet you. He wrote, last week, that your time in Dept. of building in which he now is, expires July 24th, and I thought it might be possible you would take a short vacation to visit the Pan American Exposition, and if so, we’d be very happy to have you come here, for the time, as my guest. You would find it pleasant to have a cool, quiet room after the rush and excitement at the fair. Besides desiring to make your acquaintance and returning, in slight measure, the favor you have done us, in Howard’s interest, I would like very much if I might consult you regarding our younger son Leslie, who has apparently, a very scientific mind and possesses much mechanical ingenuity. If you can possibly visit us will you allow me to write you fully regarding Leslie? His future is a very momentous subject just now. Hoping Howard will more than justify all the pains that you have taken in his welfare, I remain,
Very truly yours,
(Mrs.) Annie L. Hitchcock
