My Dear Mr. Apperson:

On my way home I heard that Commodore Hatch [stated]that you were elected an Honorary Member of the Association, This ruling is contrary to our constitution as I voted in the negative and the Constitution requires a unanimous vote.

My reason for voting as I did is first without but one exception and that by irregular procedure no citizen of our Country has been so honored except for some distinguished service to our Country as was the case with Commander [?] President, Roosevelt and Coolidge, both canoeists . Secondly I do not believe in

[Cheapening -?] an Honorary Membership in any organization.
