My dear Apperson:

Mrs. Dunlop, Secretary of the Women’s City Club, telephoned yesterday asking if there was anything new in the reforestation amendment situation. I told her the few things I knew. She explained that there was to be a meeting of the Board of Directors that afternoon.

This morning she telephoned again stating that the members of the Board had shown a very great interest in the subject and had voted to hold a meeting Monday, October 19th at eight o’clock in the Club House, at which time there would be a discussion pro and con. She said that the desire was expressed that I should voice the opposition to the amendment and I told her Ii would do this. She asked my suggestion for proponency and I mentioned Howard, Morgenthau and Houghton; she asked about Hewitt. What she probably will do is to ask Commissioner Morgenthau first and then Howard.

Very sincerely,

Ellwood Rabenold
